Crimson Desert Map — Pywel Regions & Locations Guide

Map Overview

Crimson Desert takes place on the continent of Pywel, a large open world with green plains, dense woods, arid deserts and rugged mountains. The map is divided into five regions, each with its own towns, landmarks, factions and difficulty curve, plus the mysterious sky realm of the Abyss.

Exploration is at the heart of the game — the map is dotted with ancient ruins, hidden treasures, camps and points of interest. You can climb cliffs, ride mounts (including a dragon and mechs) and glide from high points to reach new areas.

Bell Towers act as the fast-travel network: climb and activate a Bell Tower to unlock it as a waypoint, then travel between unlocked towers and major towns. The Abyss is accessed through Abyss Nexus portals found in the world.

The Abyss

The Abyss is a parallel sky realm connected to Pywel, where a mystical imbalance threatens the world. It mixes floating sky areas and underground depths, and is entered through Abyss Nexus portals.

Restoring the balance of the Abyss is part of the main story — expect tougher fights, unique loot and vertical platforming in these zones.

Exploration Tips

• Activate Bell Towers early — they are the main fast-travel system and save hours of riding.
• Follow the region order roughly: Hernand first, then Demeniss and Pailune as you level, leaving the Crimson Desert outlands for late game.
• Use your horse or dragon for long crossings, but dismount and climb for treasure markers and ruins — many hide loot on rooftops and cliffs.
